Caucuses

WGS South believes that members whose identities, voices, and points of view may be numerically under-represented within WGS South might not find an organizational base or be able to make themselves heard without caucus representation.

LGBTQ Caucus

The LGBTQ caucus of WGS South provides opportunities for LGBTQ people and their allies to share research, theory, information, resources, and experiences.  The caucus works to encourage recognition of the diversity of LGBTQ people, increase visibility, and encourage coalition building, especially through scholarship, and regularly sponsors a session at the annual conference.

Student Caucus

The student caucus of WGS South is dedicated to lifting up the voices of Undergraduate and Graduate students whom are grappling with feminist and women’s studies concerns in their scholarship and on their campuses. The student caucus provides opportunities for inter-institutional networking among students in the region. The caucus is further tasked with bringing the concerns of students to the attention of the WGS South Executive Board.

People of Color Caucus

The People of Color Caucus seeks to build visibility, solidarity, and scholarship which centers the experiences of people of color. How should we responsibly imagine differences? Invoking Audre Lorde, how do we frame differences to be catalysts for change? The caucus regularly sponsors a panel at WGS South conferences, and also a networking session at each conference.
